President Nicos Christodoulides held a bilateral meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan on the sidelines of the Gaza Summit on Monday, discussing the implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza and the broader prospects for regional stability.
During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on recent developments in the Middle East, strategies for supporting reconstruction in Gaza, and the potential role of Cyprus and Jordan in fostering stability across the region, according to a statement from Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis.
Letymbiotis noted that Cyprus, leveraging its European connections and its forthcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union, has continued to position itself as a reliable partner in regional diplomacy. “With a sustained diplomatic presence, national consistency, and political credibility, achievements cultivated under President Christodoulides’ administration, Cyprus engages in the Gaza Summit at a historic moment for the Middle East, a decisive opportunity to help establish security and stability in a region long challenged by conflict and uncertainty,” he said.
