Musicians took their seats and began playing Greek songs inside the Holy Trinity Church in Brighton, marking an event that later sparked controversy.
The Holy Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain issued a statement expressing “deepest sorrow and intense abhorrence” over what it termed a “sad incident of a musical nature” at the church.
The statement described the event as an act of “disobedience to the ecclesiastical authority, disrespect, and desecration of holy places.” The Holy Archdiocese emphasized that neither it, nor His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas, nor the bishops had any prior knowledge of the event.
