King of Jordan to visit Cyprus on 17th of December

The King of Jordan Abdallah II will pay an official visit to Cyprus on December 17, during which he will have talks with the President of the Republic, Nicos Anastasiadis.

An announcement from the President's Press Office stated that President Anastasiadis will receive the King of Jordan on the afternoon of Friday, December 17, at the Presidential Palace.

A private meeting will follow and then President Anastasiadis and King Abdalla will attend extended talks between the delegations of the two countries.

During the talks, President Anastasiadis will brief the King on the developments in the Cyprus issue and will discuss, among other things, bilateral relations, actions to address the effects of Climate Change and the initiative of the President of the Republic for the Eastern Mediterranean region, efforts to address the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and regional developments in the Middle East.

During the visit, the President of the Republic will award the King of Jordan with the Grand Necklace of the Order of the Blessed Sacrament, at the same time, King Abdullah II will also present the President with the highest honorary distinction of his country.

In addition, on the sidelines of the meeting between President Anastasiadis and the King of Jordan, a series of agreements will be signed as well as a Memorandum of Development Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus and Jordan.

More specifically, an agreement will be signed between the two countries to abolish double taxation and an agreement on extradition procedures.

On the evening of 17th December, the President will host an official dinner in honor of King Abdullah II.
