Larnaca Airport sees dozens of flight cancellations

Middle East tensions disrupt travel to Israel and Europe; passengers urged to check flight status.

Newsroom

Flight disruptions continued Tuesday at Larnaca Airport as escalating tensions in the Middle East forced airlines to cancel dozens of arrivals and departures, adding further uncertainty for travelers heading to and from Cyprus.

The latest cancellations follow widespread disruptions recorded in recent days, after airlines began suspending routes across the region amid the escalating conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Cyprus, positioned at the crossroads of Europe and the Middle East, has been among the first countries to feel the impact on air travel.

According to airport operator Hermes Airports, 26 arriving flights and 25 departing flights scheduled between 7 a.m. and midnight were canceled at Larnaca Airport alone.

Most of the affected routes involve flights to and from the Middle East, particularly Israel, as airlines continue adjusting schedules due to security concerns.

The effects are now spreading further into Europe. Since Monday, flights connecting Cyprus with countries including Germany, the United Kingdom, and Austria have also been canceled as airlines reorganize flight paths and aircraft deployment.

Airport officials are urging passengers not to travel to the airport without first checking the status of their flights. Hermes Airports advised travelers to contact their airline or travel agent in advance to avoid unnecessary delays and inconvenience.

As regional uncertainty continues, further schedule changes remain possible, with airlines monitoring developments closely and updating operations throughout the day.
