A luxury wine cellar in Limassol was severely damaged in an arson attack, resulting in the loss of some of the world’s most expensive wines, including Château Petrus and Château Margaux. The cellar, located in the Germasogeia area, catered to affluent clients and stocked bottles that could reach prices as high as €75,000.
According to sources, the fire caused extensive damage to the store, which specialized in premium wines and spirits. Some of the bottles sold by the cellar typically range from several hundred to tens of thousands of euros, with Château Petrus and Château Margaux among the most sought-after. These wines are considered collectible and often viewed as investment pieces due to their rarity and quality.
The business was known to supply both private clients and professional buyers, and the fire has raised concerns about potential disruptions in the supply of high-end alcohol during the holiday season.
This incident follows a previous attack on the same owner’s property: in late November, four of his luxury vehicles were burned by unknown assailants. Police have since increased protection measures, including regular patrols of his home and businesses, to ensure the safety of the entrepreneur and his assets.
Authorities are investigating the arson and assessing the full extent of the damage, but the loss is already considered significant given the cellar’s inventory of extremely valuable wines.
