Some 90,000 troops will take part in NATO's largest military exercise in decades, which will begin next week.
The exercise, known as Steadfast Defender 2024, will run until May, the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation's top commander, Christopher Cavoli, said Thursday.
"The Alliance will demonstrate its ability to strengthen the Euro-Atlantic region by moving forces from North America," the U.S. general said from Brussels after a two-day meeting of national defense chiefs.
According to him, the troops will come from NATO allies and Sweden, while military maneuvers will focus on deterring Russian aggression.
