The police are investigating whether the scratches found on an infant’s face and a bite mark on its back may be the result of abuse or if the baby was bitten by another child.

It was found that the facility was operating without the necessary licenses.

The operation of a nursery in the Larnaca district has been suspended following a report of possible infant abuse and the discovery that the facility was operating without proper licensing, according to police.

According to police, a complaint was filed last Friday, July 11, at the Oroklini Police Station by the parent of an 8-month-old girl. The parent reported that upon picking up the child from the private nursery, she had scratches on her face and a visible bite mark on her back.

It is noted that, to date, the parent has declined to have the infant examined by a forensic pathologist.

The relevant authorities were notified about the incident, and after the necessary inspections were carried out, it was found that the nursery was operating without the required permits. The owner was notified, and the facility’s operation was suspended.

Police are investigating whether the injuries, the scratches on the infant’s face and the bite mark on her back, were the result of abuse or if she may have been bitten by another child attending the same nursery.
