A male driver was killed in a road accident on Saturday after he bumped into a parked vehicle while two women on Sunday were seriously injured when a wrong way driver caused an accident on the highway.

According to local media, 61-year-old Andreas Kouzapas from Athienou, was driving his car late night Friday along the Koshi-Athienou highway, Larnaca district, when a few minutes after midnight he bumped into another vehicle parked on the left side of the road.

After the initial impact, described by police as a minor collision, Kouzapas’ car then veered off the road, striking the guardrail and crashing into a tree. He was later pronounced dead at the Emergency Room at Larnaca General Hospital.

Police said a 28-year-old local male, who was the driver of the parked vehicle, told officers he had experienced mechanical problems and pulled to the side. He was reportedly injured in the incident and received treatment by emergency medics.
