Limassol rocked by late night explosions

Police empty handed after investigating two explosions of 'unknown origins' in Yermasoyia

Two expositions were reportedly heard around Limassol on Sunday night, with local media saying police who went out to investigate came back empty handed.

Residents in the southern town’s Yermasoyia area said they heard a "loud boom" on Sunday night around 10:30pm, with media reporting on a "mystery explosion" in the area.

Law enforcement officers, who went out to search for possible causes, did not find anything during the night, while it was reported that an investigation would resume on Monday morning.

Local media later reported that the “loud boom” was the second and loudest of at least two explosions.

Police told Knews on Monday that two explosions were heard but officers failed to determine their origins.
