According to local media, 38-year-old Demos Kamilaris from Yeroskipou was riding his motorcycle from the Pafiakos roundabout towards Kato Paphos on Sunday morning, around 11am, when he lost control of the motorbike and crashed into a light pole.
Following the collision, Kamilaris was ejected from his seat and dragged several metres on the asphalt, while his motorcycle went over the median strip and ended up on the opposite side of the road.
Kamilaris was rushed to the Emergency Room at Paphos General Hospital where doctors on duty pronounced him dead on arrival.
Police officers who shut traffic down while an on-site investigation was being carried out later determined that no other vehicle was involved in the accident.
Media reports said Kamilaris was wearing his protective helmet but the crash was so brutal that resulted to fatal injuries.
Kamilaris leaves behind a wife and two young children who are twins.
