Paying your electricity bill in Cyprus is about to get a whole lot easier, especially for the elderly, people in remote areas, and anyone who prefers the traditional way of doing things.
The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (AHK) and Cyprus Postal Services signed a cooperation agreement on Tuesday, expanding bill payment services to every post office and postal agency across the country. The move was celebrated at a formal signing event in Nicosia, attended by the ministers of energy and transport, and is being hailed as a major step toward better, more accessible service for all citizens.
Instead of having to go to one of AHK’s 10 customer service centers or navigate online platforms, people can now settle their electricity bills at any of the 51 postal outlets nationwide. That means shorter travel times, less waiting, and an overall simpler experience, particularly helpful for those who may not be tech-savvy or connected to the internet.
“This is more than just a payment option; it’s a way to bring essential services closer to our people,” said AHK Board Chairman George Petrou. “From urban centers to the most remote communities, this partnership ensures no one is left out.”
The agreement is the result of a shared vision between AHK and Cyprus Post to make life easier for residents by offering more direct and user-friendly services. According to officials, the collaboration reflects a growing effort across public agencies to improve service delivery by working together.
Energy Minister George Papanastasiou underlined the value of strategic partnerships in creating more flexible and citizen-focused services, while Transport Minister Alexis Vafeadis called the agreement “a practical example of how government services can better connect with the people they serve.”
Whether you’re living in the heart of Nicosia or in a small mountain village, this initiative makes it simpler to take care of one of life’s essential obligations without the stress.
