You know it's that time of year when the air feels like soup and your sunglasses fog up the moment you step outside. We're deep into heatwave season now, but today, summer is switching things up with a little cinematic flair. Think soaring temperatures with a side of surprise thunderstorms. Classic.
Here's what's going on. A weak low-pressure system and a moody, unstable air mass (relatable) are shaking things up across the region. Around midday and into the afternoon, expect some chunky clouds to drift in, especially over the mountains, inland areas, and the east. A few of them might drop isolated showers or even a quick thunderstorm. It won’t be a full-blown storm day, but enough to keep things spicy.
Winds will start light, coming from the southeast to southwest, with some places catching a northeastern breeze. As the day goes on, they’ll shift to a southwest-to-northwest flow, staying light to moderate. Nothing dramatic. The sea might feel a bit unsettled but nothing worth canceling your beach plans over.
Temperatures are leaning all the way into summer. We’re talking 34°C inland, around 30°C along the coast, and 28°C in the higher mountains. It’s the kind of heat that makes you seriously appreciate shade, air conditioning, and anything frozen.
Tonight, skies will clear up, winds will calm down, and the vibe will turn gentle. Expect lows around 21°C inland and on the coast, and 18°C in the mountains. Perfect weather for open windows and cool sheets.
About yesterday, if you caught any of those sudden downpours, you already know it was a whole moment. Big clouds, flashes of lightning, and some serious drama. We've got the videos to prove it, so scroll down and relive the chaos.
Looking ahead, Tuesday will be mostly clear. A few clouds could drift over the mountains around midday and might squeeze out a shower or a quick rumble of thunder. After that, it’s sunshine on repeat. Wednesday and Thursday are shaping up to be bright and dry, with temperatures creeping higher each day. By Thursday, we’ll be above seasonal averages, and yes, it will feel like it.
So whether you're chasing storms or chasing the nearest iced coffee, keep cool and keep your eyes on the skies. Summer's just getting started.
