A weak low-pressure system will bring unstable weather to Cyprus starting Friday, with occasional rain and storms expected in certain areas.
For Thursday, mostly clear skies will dominate, though locally increased cloud cover may bring isolated showers, particularly in the east and north. Winds will blow mainly from the southwest to northwest, starting at 3 to 4 Beaufort and strengthening to 4 to 5 Beaufort by the afternoon. On the southwest coast, winds may briefly reach 5 to 6 Beaufort. The sea will be moderately rough, especially in the afternoon along the south, west, and north coasts. Temperatures will peak at 32°C inland and on the southeast and east coasts, while coastal areas to the west and north will see highs of 29°C. In the higher elevations, temperatures will reach around 24°C.
Tonight, mostly clear skies will persist with some localized cloud cover, particularly in the north, where isolated showers may occur. Winds will shift slightly to the northeast overnight, calming to 3 Beaufort in most areas. The sea will remain somewhat turbulent in the west and north but will become calmer in the south and east. Overnight temperatures will drop to 18°C inland, 20°C on the coast, and 12°C in the mountains.
Friday will bring mostly clear weather across the island, but clouds forming in the afternoon may lead to isolated showers or storms, primarily in the mountains and the eastern regions.
By Saturday, afternoon showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to affect the mountains, interior, east, and north. Coastal areas may also see occasional evening showers. On Sunday, the morning will bring isolated coastal showers, with scattered rain and storms expected later in the day, especially in the mountainous and eastern regions.
Temperatures will remain near seasonal averages through Friday but will drop slightly on Saturday, staying below average through Sunday.
