Something didn’t sit right. Three members of a wealthy family in Elliniko died one after the other, mother, daughter, and son, all within just 13 days. Now, Greece’s Homicide Squad is trying to unravel the eerie mystery that has left more questions than answers.
The strange sequence began on April 15, when 98-year-old Katerina Sidiropoulou, a retired pensioner, passed away. Six days later, her 78-year-old daughter Barbara-Vera followed. Just days after that, the last living member of the family, 75-year-old businessman and writer Michalis-Michael Sidiropoulos, also died, completing a chilling family tragedy that spanned less than two weeks.
Authorities initially chalked it up to tragic coincidence. But that changed when a close friend of Michalis, a scientist who flew in from Canada to visit him, was stunned to learn not only that his friend had died, but that his entire family was also gone.
Unable to shake the feeling that something was off, he reached out to well-known criminal lawyer Stelios Sourlas. Sourlas, who took the concerns seriously, advised him to contact the Homicide Bureau. That call kick-started an official investigation that’s now trying to piece together whether the deaths were truly natural, or something far more sinister.
A key figure in this strange tale is a Bulgarian domestic worker, hired by the family just this past February. Her presence and timing have raised eyebrows, especially since all three deaths happened only months after she arrived. Investigators are reportedly keeping a close watch on her, although so far, there is no concrete evidence tying her to any wrongdoing. She’s expected to be formally questioned in the coming days to share her side of what happened inside the family home.
Meanwhile, two individuals claiming to be first cousins of the deceased siblings have now come forward. They’ve contacted lawyer Sourlas as potential heirs and could play a role in how this story unfolds, especially if financial motives are confirmed.
According to Sourlas, “From the moment my client contacted me, it was clear this wasn’t just about grief. There were details that didn’t add up. We carried out our own investigation and found signs that there may have been a financial motive behind the deaths.”
Autopsies and toxicology reports are now underway and could be key in determining if the deaths were natural or if foul play was involved.
