If Cyprus weather had a summer routine, it would look a lot like this: sunshine takes centre stage, the mountains get a little dramatic in the afternoon, and everyone pretends they're surprised when a thunderstorm suddenly appears.
Today's forecast is largely sunny once any early-morning mist, fog and low cloud decide to call it a day. As temperatures climb, clouds are expected to develop over the mountains and possibly inland areas during the early afternoon, bringing the chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm.
The heat will certainly make itself known, with temperatures reaching around 35°C inland. The west coast gets the better deal at a more comfortable 27°C, while the rest of the coastline can expect highs near 29°C. Up in the higher mountains, temperatures will peak at around 25°C.
Winds will start the day light and variable before sea breezes gradually take over, while the sea remains slight and generally calm.
Tonight will be mostly clear, although patches of low cloud and some local mist or fog are expected to make a return later on, particularly during the overnight and early morning hours.
Looking ahead, Thursday, Friday and Saturday are shaping up to be very familiar. Mornings will begin bright and mostly sunny, followed by the possibility of isolated afternoon showers or thunderstorms over the mountains and inland areas. By Saturday, eastern coastal districts may also get in on the action.
Temperatures are expected to stay close to seasonal averages, meaning summer will continue to feel comfortably settled across the island, with just enough afternoon mischief to keep things interesting.
