The price of wheat rose more than 6% last week amid concerns that the international agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain, which expires on July 18, may not be renewed.
In particular, the price of wheat closed on Friday at $7.33 per bushel, showing a weekly increase of 6.6%, while on a monthly basis, the increase exceeded 20%.
Dry weather in wheat-producing areas in North America, as well as last week's explosion at the Kakhovka hydroelectric dam, which is located in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine and supplies wheat-producing areas, also contributed to the price increase.
The current agreement was reached last July with the mediation of the UN and Turkey.
