Tourism in Cyprus is booming. August alone brought in €581.8 million, up nearly 14% from last year, while total earnings from January through August hit €2.47 billion, marking a 16.5% increase compared with the same period in 2024. Visitor numbers also climbed, with 602,000 tourists arriving in August, compared with 555,000 last year.

Tourists are spending more too. The average daily spend per visitor reached €966, with British tourists, the largest group at 32% of arrivals, spending around €113 per day. Israelis followed closely, averaging €152 per day, and Polish visitors spent about €96 per day.

Hotels and resorts across Cyprus have been seeing strong occupancy. Neophytos Thrasyvoulou, president of the Pancyprian Federation of Leisure Centre Owners, said many hotels reported over 80% occupancy in September and October, a welcome boost for the industry as the high season winds down.

Thrasyvoulou stressed the importance of support programs for tourism businesses and workers to help maintain staff and keep operations running through the winter months. He noted that the industry is now waiting on legislation in Parliament that would make it easier for hotels and other tourist businesses to secure and maintain operating permits and adjust hours to meet demand.

The strong summer numbers show Cyprus’ tourism sector is not just bouncing back; it’s thriving, with hopes that the momentum continues into November and beyond.
