All modern states are required to develop their digital tools to better serve their citizens quickly and efficiently. One of the most important of these tools is the digital wallet, a highly useful solution that combines convenience, security, and technology.

This tool is extremely valuable to citizens as it facilitates most transactions with government agencies. Its potential is vast, and its ease of use significantly enhances the quality of life while also boosting trust in the state.

Citizens can store essential documents in the digital wallet, making their interactions with the government or authorities smoother.

In Greece, for example, the ID card and driver's license have been digitally stored in a wallet for several years, allowing citizens to avoid carrying unnecessary documents and the associated risk of loss. At the same time, it prevents theft and misuse by criminals. Other documents, such as certificates and tax returns, can also be stored in the wallet.

Thanks to encryption and advancements in mobile phone security, the risk of falling victim to fraudsters or data theft is low. Imagine how fast and easy public services could become with identification through a simple QR code scan.

This would cut down on unnecessary bureaucracy, eliminate long queues, and lower the operational costs of public services. Moreover, it would contribute to a greener government by reducing the need to print and store physical documents.

For these reasons, I believe it is essential for Cyprus to adopt a digital wallet, which would greatly simplify our daily lives. This should be done through fair and transparent processes so that citizens can embrace the technology without any concerns.
