Nutella unveils first new flavor in 60 years, but there's a catch

Peanut Nutella hits U.S. shelves in 2026, while a vegan version rolls out in the UK giving fans tasty new reasons to spread the love.

For the first time in its 60-year history, Nutella is mixing things up, literally. The beloved chocolate-hazelnut spread is getting a new twist: Peanut Nutella. This fresh flavor blends Nutella’s signature cocoa-hazelnut creaminess with the rich taste of roasted peanuts, according to its maker, Ferrero.

But before you get too excited, here’s the catch: it will only be available in the United States, and not until Spring 2026.

Ferrero says this “bold yet natural evolution” of the classic spread is aimed at delighting both longtime fans and new customers. Despite the peanut element, the company insists it’s not just another peanut butter. “It’s still Nutella,” said a marketing exec, “just with an added peanut punch.”

Production will take place in Illinois, where Ferrero is investing $75 million to ramp up manufacturing and create new jobs.

Meanwhile, Nutella fans in the UK have something to look forward to as well: a vegan version of the spread, already available in some countries and rolling out in UK supermarkets. The plant-based Nutella swaps dairy for ingredients like chickpeas and rice syrup but promises the same smooth texture and rich flavor.

Both new versions are part of Ferrero’s plan to reach more consumers while keeping Nutella’s iconic taste intact, just with a modern twist.
