A 24-year-old British man was rescued Friday after injuring himself in the Sea Caves area of Ayia Napa and becoming unable to reach safety on his own, authorities said.
Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis said in a post on X that emergency crews were called at about 3:33 p.m. to help the man, who was stranded on a rock near the water and unable to climb to safety due to his injuries.
Firefighters used a ladder to reach the man, secured him on an immobilization stretcher, and handed him over to paramedics. He was taken to the Accident and Emergency Department at Famagusta General Hospital.
The Special Disaster Response Unit (EMAK) was placed on standby but was not needed for the operation, which was carried out by the Famagusta Fire Station.
