Black Friday is in full swing across Cyprus, and stores are bracing for a rush of bargain-hungry consumers. Shoppers have already shown “intense interest” in the days leading up to the big day, and Mall of Cyprus Marketing Director Giorgos Pissis says the frenzy is expected to peak Friday afternoon.
“Visitors can expect real value across fashion, tech, beauty, home goods, and more,” Pissis told local media. “The atmosphere is festive, and stores are offering a complete shopping experience.”

How to get the best deals without getting burned
Experts warn that while the discounts are tempting, shoppers should stay alert. Pissis advises checking actual prices and discount amounts, knowing store return policies, and arriving early for limited-time offers.
The Cyprus Consumers Association offers additional tips for safe and smart shopping:
- Do your homework: Compare prices and products beforehand to know if a deal is truly a bargain.
- Watch out online: Avoid dubious websites, and be cautious with toys or cosmetics from international platforms; safety risks rise with big discounts.
- Read the fine print: Look closely at product descriptions, customer reviews, and store policies before buying.
- Be aware of marketing language: Terms like “Bargain Price,” “Special Offer,” or “Discount Price” don’t always mean a deep discount.
- Protect your privacy: Be careful signing up for newsletters, as they can be used to track your browsing and target you with ads.
- Know your rights: For online or off-site purchases, consumers generally have a 14-day window to cancel, except when buying from companies based outside the EU or third countries.

The Association also reminds shoppers to check if a retailer participates in alternative dispute resolution programs and encourages the public to report violations.
With preparation and a bit of caution, Cypriots can navigate the Black Friday frenzy safely and maybe even score a few true bargains along the way.
