The recent icy temperatures sweeping across Cyprus haven’t just hit crops hard—they’ve also wreaked havoc on solar water heaters in homes across the island. As residents deal with the aftermath of the unexpected freeze, authorities are stepping in to assess the damage and offer financial assistance where needed.
Teams from the District Administration will be making their rounds in the coming days, recording the extent of the damage to residential solar water systems. Once the assessments are complete, a proposal for financial aid will be sent to the Council of Ministers, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry.
Homeowners who have experienced damage are encouraged to report it to their local District Administration by Friday, February 28. This will ensure that an inspection team can be scheduled to visit their property and document the issue.
Government Ready to Assist
The Ministry of Interior has assured affected citizens that help is on the way, with all relevant government agencies working together to provide support and relief. As the country grapples with the unexpected deep freeze, officials are urging residents to stay informed and take precautions against further damage.
