The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) has released sample images of its new student dormitories in Pano Polemidia, located in the “Vergaria” settlement.

The first phase of the project is expected to deliver 150 rooms by the upcoming academic year, providing accommodation for new students. A second phase, scheduled for 2027, will add another 350 rooms.

Priority for new students from outside Limassol

For the 2026–27 academic year, priority for housing will be given to first-year students coming from areas more than 25 kilometres away from Limassol.

According to CUT, these students will not need to go through a points-based evaluation system to secure accommodation, ensuring direct and equal access to available rooms without bureaucratic procedures. Eligible students will also be guaranteed housing for at least one academic year at an affordable cost.

Two faculties planned near the dorms

The development plan for the area goes beyond student housing. Once the dormitories are operational, two university faculties are expected to be relocated to the site.

According to information, there are ongoing discussions about moving the School of Engineering and one additional faculty, following a Cabinet decision that now allows such relocations.

Offices of the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence are also expected to move to the area, while additional land is being sought for the creation of a small technology park.

High demand for student housing

The new dorms are expected to ease growing pressure for student housing. Applications for accommodation reportedly reach around 700 per year.

Currently, CUT also operates the “Apollonia” student residences in Limassol, with 220 rooms owned by the Archdiocese, while the university additionally rents private apartments that are subsidized for students.
