Good morning, Cyprus! If you're feeling a little emotionally torn this morning, you're not alone. It's Monday, which is a collective sigh of "back to reality." But wait! It's also December 1st! That's a brand new month, a fresh start to the week, and most importantly, the month where we get to mention the 'C' word without feeling like a maniac (that's Christmas!).
So, while your alarm clock may be the low-pressure system over your soul, let's look at the weather, where the drama continues...
The low-pressure system known as ADEL is still hanging around for her Cyprus concert, but she seems to have lost some of her volume. She's moving northeast, away from the spotlight over the northern Aegean.
Today, expect a bit of the diva spirit with locally increased clouds and the chance of isolated showers. She might even throw a tiny tantrum with an isolated thunderstorm, but don't hold your breath for a full-blown smash hit.
The stage is still a bit breezy, with southwesterly to northwesterly winds blowing moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough to rough, so keep an eye on the waves if you're near the coast.
In a true act of Monday-morning compromise, temperatures are staying remarkably steady: around 21°C inland and on the coasts, and chilly but manageable at around 11°C in the higher mountains.
The rest of the short week holds a mix of fortunes. On Tuesday the weather will be mostly clear, though keep your umbrella handy for an afternoon encore of isolated showers, mainly up north and in the mountains. On Wednesday, layers of mid- and high-level clouds will roll in, making it a proper winter sky, while Thursday might see ADEL try for a late show with isolated showers or a thunderstorm.
We're maintaining those slightly-above-average temperatures. So caffeinate for Monday and remember, the sun is shining (mostly) on this very first day of the final month of the year!
