Elderly Limassol man dies after his vehicle slams into the rear of a crawler on Limassol-Platres road

A man from Limassol was killed Monday morning in a traffic accident following a collision with a bulldozer.

According to police, an elderly male was driving his car on Limassol-Platres main road on Monday morning, around 6:45, when he suddenly crashed into the rear of a bulldozer.

The man, who was later identified as 73-year-old Michail Savva from Limassol, was critically injured and remained trapped until fire fighters were able to remove him from the vehicle.

Savva was rushed to the Emergency Room at Limassol General Hospital, according to police, where doctors said he had suffered multiple head wounds as well as internal bleeding due to serious head injury.

Due to his critical condition, the driver was then transferred to Nicosia General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police are investigating the accident.
