Eurobank's Michalis Louis set to become new CEO of Hellenic Bank

Following Eurobank's offer to acquire Hellenic Bank several board members have resigned

Michalis Louis, CEO of Eurobank Cyprus, is expected to be named the new chief executive officer of Hellenic Bank following the bank’s 50th Annual General Meeting on September 18, 2024.

The nomination for the new board of directors, as outlined in the meeting notice, includes Louis for the role of Executive Director. This follows the interim leadership of Antonis Rouvas. With Eurobank S.A. being the major shareholder with a 55.9% stake, Louis's appointment appears imminent.

In addition to Louis, the proposed board members include Oliver Bernard Ellingham, Robert Anastassis Kyprianou, Charalambos Konstantinou, Maria Charalambous, Sofronis Kliridis, and Kenneth Howard Prince-Wright, all nominated as independent non-executive directors.

Following Eurobank's public offer to acquire 100% of Hellenic Bank in late July, several board members including Dimitrios Efstathiou, Christodoulos Chatzistavrou, Christos Themistocleous, John Gregory Iossifidis, Marios Maratheftis, Andreas Persianis, and Marco Comastri have resigned or declined to seek re-election.

Current board president Petros Christodoulou, along with Antonis Rouvas and Miranda Xafa, will remain in their positions, completing the new board’s composition.
