Fair skies with low chances of rain

Friday and weekend pop up showers possible, some strong winds, otherwise clear weather

A low pressure system is moving into areas over Cyprus, with chances of showers and thunderstorms expected in the afternoon.

According to weather officials, mostly clear weather is expected to change unexpectedly as rain clouds remain over areas in the north and out west, while low chances of showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected in the east in the afternoon.

The sea will range between relatively calm and choppy while winds are also expected to pick up due to seasonal low pressure. Winds will initially range from moderate to strong but later very strong in the south and southwest.

Overall weekend weather will remain mostly clear in the mornings but increasing clouds are expected after noontime and in the afternoon hours

Maximum temperatures will reach 30 degrees Celsius inland, 29 in the east and south, around 27 in the north and out west, while it will be 24 high up in the mountains.

In the evening, low-level but waterless clouds will persist along the northern and western coastal regions but elsewhere clear weather is expected.

Overnight and early morning light fog could form in leeward area, while temperature lows will drop to 21 degrees in the interior and in coastal areas, while it will be 13 high up in the mountains.

Temperatures will climb just slightly on Saturday while dust is expected on Sunday.

Overall weekend weather will remain mostly clear in the mornings but increasing clouds are expected after noontime and in the afternoon hours, with some chances of local showers mainly over the mountains and parts along the eastern coast.

Dust is expected to recede on Monday when skies will remain mostly clear in the early parts of the day, with clouds expected to set in the afternoon inland and over the mountains.
