A 21-year-old man and his 50-year-old mother found themselves in handcuffs after an unexpected visit from the Cyprus Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) led to the discovery of illegal substances and weapons in their Larnaca home.
It all unfolded around 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10, when YKAN officers arrived to search the family residence and the young man’s vehicle. Just as the 50-year-old woman was about to get into the car, officers intervened—and for good reason. A search of the vehicle revealed 19 nylon bags filled with cocaine and cannabis.
But the surprises didn’t stop there.
Inside the home, officers discovered more cannabis, precision scales, and a suspicious stash of cash, raising serious concerns about a potential drug operation. But that wasn’t all. The search also uncovered an arsenal of firecrackers, flares, fireworks, and even an iron fist—items that hint at more than just a casual interest in recreational substances.
Both mother and son were arrested on the spot, and authorities are now working to determine the full extent of their involvement in drug-related activities. With drugs, weapons, and cash in play, the case has raised red flags about possible deeper criminal connections.
As investigators dig deeper, one thing is clear: this mother-son duo’s run-in with the law is just getting started.
