Police have arrested four people, including three men and one woman, following a coordinated operation linked to multiple burglaries at construction sites across the Nicosia district over the past three weeks.
The first arrest came just before noon yesterday when officers from the Nicosia TAE stopped a 33-year-old man driving in the district. The man was wanted under a court warrant for six cases of burglary, theft, illegal entry, property damage, and conspiracy to commit a felony, committed between March 9 and March 28.
At his residence, authorities also detained a 33-year-old woman, who was likewise wanted in connection with the same cases. Police recovered a large cache of tools, scales, and cables, believed to be stolen property. During questioning, the man admitted not only to the six burglaries listed in the warrant but also to two additional similar incidents.
Later in the evening, officers spotted a 30-year-old man in a car driven by a 26-year-old, attempting to evade the police. The vehicle was stopped, and both men were arrested. Investigators recovered construction tools from the 30-year-old’s residence and were led to a hidden bag containing more stolen items. The 26-year-old driver was charged with illegal possession of property after failing to provide a clear explanation for tools found in his vehicle.
All four suspects remain in police custody as the Nicosia Burglary Squad continues its investigation. Authorities say the arrests are part of a broader effort to crack down on recent thefts targeting building sites in the area.
