The reason behind the incident was not immediately clear but local media reported that the two passengers attempted to board the bus after they were told they could not get inside the vehicle and had to wait, with both of them pushing their way in and one of them allegedly pulling a knife during a physical altercation that ensued.

Police told Knews on Tuesday morning they could not confirm any details about a knife or share other information about the incident, adding that all four suspects were arrested on charges of aggravated assault, and causing grievous bodily harm according to an official statement.

The 35-year-old man reportedly suffered a concussion and was rushed to the Emergency Room at Nicosia General Hospital. There were no reports of any stabbing wounds while the 30-year-old was also said to have been treated for unknown injuries according to a police statement.

Additional reports said two foreign nationals were initially arrested while the two others were also placed into custody following the course of the investigation.
