The Palestinian Health Ministry in Ramallah has accused Gazan influencer Saleh Al Jafarawi, also known as 'Mr. FAFO', of embezzling money meant for the reconstruction of Al-Nasr Children's Hospital. This follows a video posted by Jafarawi, in which he and other influencers announced a fundraising campaign aiming to raise $10 million, claiming the goal was set by the Palestinian Health Ministry. The campaign used the ministry’s logo and also featured the Kuwait Society for Relief.
However, the Palestinian Health Ministry quickly distanced itself from the campaign, issuing a statement that denied any involvement. They clarified that they had not endorsed or partnered in any fundraising efforts for Gaza, warning against using their name or logo for such purposes without legal consequences.
Meanwhile, the Kuwait Society for Relief has not commented on the matter, and despite raising nearly $10 million, no campaign for the hospital appears on their website. Jafarawi’s fundraising initiative continues to be active, but it has sparked outrage among Palestinians, who have accused him of pocketing the funds or possibly funneling them to Hamas.
Jafarawi's controversial social media history includes several videos where he has posed as different figures, from a foster father to a surgeon, and his role in these videos has raised further suspicions. His name is also listed as a "martyr" on a Gaza website, but the date of his supposed death is unclear.
