The Greens party called on authorities to properly look into the smell of what seems to be burnt manure plaguing entire areas of Nicosia since late last week.
The cause of the unpleasant odour, which the Greens said is spreading from the western to the eastern suburbs of the capital, has not been adequately investigated.
“Several possible sources have been identified by complainants, with the most possible being the large pig farms and the sewage treatment plant in the area of the Ovgos river, near the Nicosia airport,” the party’s announcement said.
The party called on authorities to take action for the immediate resolution of the problem.
