Kimberly Guilfoyle, nominee for a seat on the influential U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, pledged during her confirmation hearing to prioritize strong American alliances with Cyprus, Greece, and Israel, calling the Eastern Mediterranean region vital to U.S. national security.

“This region is absolutely critical,” Guilfoyle said, “and our focus must be on protecting our key partners—Cyprus, Israel and Greece. That will be the core of my mission.”

Guilfoyle, a former prosecutor and television personality, made it clear she sees the three nations as reliable allies in a tense geopolitical neighborhood. She also drew a sharp contrast between Greece’s consistency and Turkey’s shifting stance within the NATO alliance.

“Greece has been a strong, stable partner, stepping up and exceeding expectations,” she said. “That’s not something we can say right now about all NATO members.”

She pointed to Turkey’s ousting from the F-35 fighter jet program, saying the country made its own choices when it opted to purchase the Russian-made S-400 missile defense system, a move that triggered U.S. sanctions and exclusion from the program.

“There are choices countries make,” Guilfoyle told committee chair Sen. Jim Reese. “Turkey chose to work with the Russians. That’s why they’re out of the F-35 program.”

While speaking candidly on the issues, Guilfoyle emphasized she was sharing her personal views as a citizen and that she looks forward to working under the direction of the U.S. president, in coordination with U.S. envoys in the region.

She also highlighted her close ties with U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack and U.S. Ambassador to Greece George Tsunis, saying those relationships will be key to advancing U.S. interests and reinforcing trusted partnerships in the region.

“I plan to be ready to deliver from day one,” she said.
