Israel-Gaza tensions escalate as Netanyahu urges Gazans to ‘leave now’

Netanyahu vows to “catch everyone” involved in terrorist attack on Jerusalem bus stop.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged residents of Gaza City to “leave now” on Saturday, hours after Israel announced it would intensify airstrikes on the Palestinian territory, as a deadly shooting in Jerusalem left six people dead.

“I say to the residents of Gaza, I take this opportunity and listen to me carefully: you have been warned - leave now,” Netanyahu said at the Air Force Command Centre in Tel Aviv. He added that Israeli forces are preparing a ground “maneuver” in the densely populated coastal enclave.

Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned on social media that “a powerful hurricane will strike the skies of Gaza City,” following a series of airstrikes that targeted high-rise buildings in recent days.

The warnings came as two Palestinian gunmen opened fire at a bus stop on the outskirts of Jerusalem, killing six people in what police described as “a terrorist attack.” Authorities said the attackers were killed by a combination of a security officer and a passer-by.

Hamas hailed the attack as “a natural response to the occupation’s crimes” but did not claim responsibility for the killings.

Netanyahu vowed to “catch everyone” who aided the attackers.
