Electricity has nearly been fully restored to the regions impacted by the devastating fires in the Limassol district, as announced by the Cyprus Electricity Authority (AEK) in a recent statement.
According to AEK, the electricity supply has already been almost fully restored, with only a few points still needing attention. These include two isolated houses that suffered extensive damage and a borehole on the Paramytha - Gerasa road, for which restoration efforts are currently underway.
AEK highlights the swift actions taken to repair the damage to the distribution network in the communities of Apaisias and Paramythas. So far, they have replaced a total of 2 overhead transformers, 10 medium voltage poles, and 6 low voltage poles in various areas of these communities.
To facilitate immediate power restoration, generators have been deployed on the grid until the final repairs are completed.
As the necessary work progresses, the grid is being activated promptly, and the electricity supply to residential and commercial properties in the affected communities is being reinstated.
AEK emphasizes that its top priority is to safely and quickly complete the repair works in the affected areas. Additionally, they urge network users in the fire-hit regions to be mindful that their installations may still be under voltage during this time.
In light of the situation, AEK is conducting external visual inspections of substations, but they also rely on the cooperation of the owners and users of these substations. They encourage owners to immediately report any damage to the network by contacting AEK at 25205202 and 25205221.
