A 66-year-old man has been remanded in custody for five days in Limassol as police investigate an alleged €32,000 fraud involving the supposed sale of agricultural land.

Authorities said the complaint was filed on February 2 by a couple who claimed they reached an agreement with the suspect in 2020 to buy a rural plot in the Limassol district. The couple reported paying a total of €32,000 for the land.

However, according to police, the man did not complete the ownership transfer because he was not the legal owner of the property, but instead held it as a tenant.

Following the report and subsequent inquiries, investigators obtained an arrest warrant and detained the suspect on Tuesday night. He was brought before the Limassol District Court the next morning, where a judge approved his continued detention while the case is examined further.

The Limassol CID is continuing the investigation.
