Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk accused Russia on Wednesday of orchestrating sabotage, including "acts of air terror" targeting airlines worldwide. Tusk, speaking alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Warsaw, said he could confirm fears that Russia was planning such attacks, not just against Poland, but against global airlines.
The Russian government has dismissed Western claims of involvement in recent explosions at courier depots and other sabotage activities across Europe. However, Western security officials have raised concerns that Russian intelligence may have orchestrated a plot to place incendiary devices in packages on cargo planes bound for North America, after similar packages caused fires in Germany and the UK last year.
Poland's government has previously accused Russia of waging hybrid warfare against Western nations in retaliation for their support of Ukraine. Poland also claims that Russia, in collaboration with Belarus, is behind a migration crisis along the EU’s eastern border, aimed at sowing chaos within the European Union.
In response to these ongoing threats, Poland’s foreign minister ordered the closure of one of Russia's consulates in the country last year.
