Spanish police have questioned the son of Isak Andic as part of an ongoing investigation into the death of the billionaire founder of the Mango fashion group, authorities said Tuesday.

Catalan police confirmed that Jonathan Andic was detained for questioning in connection with the investigation surrounding his father’s death last December near Barcelona.

A spokesperson for the family said Jonathan Andic was cooperating with authorities but declined to provide further details. The family has previously rejected any suggestion of wrongdoing after Spanish media reports indicated he was being investigated for possible homicide.

Isak Andic died in December 2024 after falling more than 100 meters from a cliff while hiking with family members in the Montserrat mountain area outside Barcelona, a popular destination known for its rugged terrain and caves.

At the time, the incident was initially treated as a tragic accident. However, investigators later reopened parts of the case as they examined the circumstances surrounding the fall.

Police have not publicly disclosed what prompted the latest developments or whether any charges are expected.

Andic, who was born into a Sephardic Jewish family in Turkey before moving to Spain as a child, built Mango from a single shop in Barcelona in 1984 into one of Europe’s biggest fast-fashion brands.

Over the decades, the company grew into a global retail giant with stores in more than 100 countries, becoming one of Spain’s best-known international fashion success stories.
