In a heart-wrenching update to the case of Thanasis Nikolaou, his mother, Adriana, made shocking allegations of a cover-up surrounding her son’s death, which she insists still remains unsolved. Speaking on Sigma's "Protoselido" show, Adriana made it clear that she believes the true culprits behind her son's tragic death are still walking free.

With raw emotion, she stated, “Some must be punished immediately, all the responsibility lies with the then army officers for the loss of my child." She went on to accuse the army command of negligence, claiming that they were fully aware of the troubling environment Thanasis was enduring in his unit—one that involved drug addicts and troublemakers.

Adriana described how she repeatedly urged her son to report the abuse, even though he feared retaliation. “When he reached the chief of staff's office and spoke to him, the next day he was found dead,” she recounted.

The allegations don’t stop there. She insists that a far-reaching cover-up orchestrated by multiple parties is responsible for the lack of accountability. According to Adriana, the army, police, the then-coroner Panicos Stavrianos, and the Legal Service were all complicit in what she calls a cover-up. "The cover-up was done by Stavrianos and the officers of the Police and the Army,” she claimed, adding that the cover-up continued with officials in the Legal Service.

In a deeply emotional moment, Adriana voiced how difficult her fight for justice has been. “Do you know how much I’ve been through? They were driving me crazy,” she said, her voice shaking. She once again pointed the finger at Stavrianos, calling him the "key to the cover-up" and expressing her frustration that he had not spoken out sooner.

Adriana’s final words were chilling: “We do not want in any way to go into the hands of the Attorney General, because we it will end up in the same situation as before.”

Meanwhile, the investigator's report into the death of Thanasis has been submitted to the secretary of the Cabinet this morning.

As the investigation continues, the unanswered questions surrounding Thanasis Nikolaou’s death remain, and his mother’s fight for justice grows ever more urgent.
