Press Release
Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women worldwide and the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Europe. It is estimated that one in eight women will develop breast cancer at some point in her life, with more than 355,000 new cases recorded in the European Union in 2020 alone.
In Cyprus, last year’s figures highlight the urgent need for awareness and prevention. In 2024, 849 new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in women, an 8% increase from the previous year, along with nine new cases in men. Additionally, 273 women were diagnosed with gynecological cancers, marking a 20% rise. Tragically, 285 people lost their lives in 2024 to breast or other gynecological cancers.
Behind these numbers are real people fighting daily battles. Prevention, early diagnosis, and proper information are critical to tackling the disease. Equally important is psychological support for patients and their families. Organizations that amplify patients’ voices and advocate for better awareness, equal access to care, and research funding play a vital role. For two decades, Europa Donna Cyprus has been a cornerstone of support for women facing cancer and their families. As a member of the European Breast Cancer Coalition, it contributes significantly to public education, prevention, and early detection.
Bean Bar launches “Support Pink” campaign
Staying true to its mission of solidarity and social responsibility, Bean Bar once again joins forces with Europa Donna Cyprus during Breast Cancer Awareness Month through its new “Support Pink” campaign.
Throughout October, all Bean Bar locations will offer limited-edition strawberry macarons in pink packaging, available in sets of three and ten, featuring the “Support Pink” sticker. All proceeds from sales will go directly to Europa Donna Cyprus, supporting its vital work and reinforcing the message of collective action.
The “Support Pink” campaign is another example of Bean Bar’s ongoing social initiatives, showing that even small, everyday choices can become meaningful acts of support. Because the fight against breast cancer should never be a solitary journey, it is a cause for all of us.
