Police have arrested two 17-year-olds in connection with a fire that broke out last Tuesday night at a shelter for unaccompanied minors in Larnaca.
Authorities secured testimony implicating the two teens during their investigation. Based on this evidence, arrest warrants were issued, and the suspects were detained.
The fire erupted at approximately 11:50 p.m. on June 4, 2024, in two rooms on the shelter's second floor. Members of the Fire Service extinguished the blaze, and subsequent investigations revealed it was set maliciously.
A few hours later, around 3 a.m., another fire broke out in five additional rooms in the hospitality area. Fire Service members again responded and extinguished the flames. Investigations confirmed that this fire was also set intentionally.
The Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is handling the case.
