A joint military operation involving the United States and Israel has struck Iran’s Natanz nuclear enrichment site, marking a significant development in the ongoing conflict. Iranian state media reported that the attack did not cause any radioactive contamination, emphasizing that nearby communities are not at risk.

Iran’s nuclear authority confirmed that the facility was hit but did not provide details on the weapons or method used in the strike. Officials reiterated that there has been no release of radiation following the incident.

Natanz, located in central Iran, is one of the country’s most critical nuclear installations, alongside facilities in Isfahan. Efforts to dismantle or weaken Iran’s nuclear programme have been a central objective for both Washington and Tel Aviv since hostilities began.

While previous reports have mentioned strikes occurring near nuclear-related sites, particularly around Isfahan, this appears to be the first confirmed large-scale attack directly targeting Natanz.

According to Israeli media reports citing US sources, American forces carried out the strike using bunker-busting munitions. If confirmed, this would represent the first known use of such weapons against Natanz since the conflict started.

Elsewhere in the region, drone attacks triggered a major fire near a US military installation in Baghdad, Iraq. The site has been repeatedly targeted since the outbreak of the US-Israel confrontation with Iran, highlighting the widening geographic scope of the conflict.
