It’s finally feeling like winter in Cyprus! Time to dust off those extra layers and the onesies you pretend are “loungewear.” And how do we locals really know it’s winter? Simple. Our beloved turtle, John Snow (yes, named after the famous epidemiologist, not that brooding king), has finally decided it’s hibernation season. If he’s going into hiding, you know the temperatures mean business.
And then there’s the rain. Ah, the sweet, life-giving rain! Sure, it might ruin a hairdo or two, but never complain. Cyprus needs every drop.
Today: BYRON, the low-pressure system with a flair for drama, is making his presence known. Expect mostly cloudy skies with occasional isolated showers and thunderstorms that might throw in some hail for extra excitement.
Winds are from northeast to southeast, light to moderate (3-4 Beaufort), with occasional bursts of bravado up to strong (5 Beaufort) in exposed areas. Expect seas to be slightly rough, flirting with rough in the east and north. Temperatures will be 18°C inland, around 20°C on the coasts, and a brisk 10°C in the mountains (bring that extra sweater).
Tonight: Partly cloudy skies linger, and isolated showers might appear, mostly in the mountains. Winds will be gentle, from northwest to northeast, and the sea will remain slightly rough, like a mild caffeinated shake.
Thursday: Partly cloudy again, with isolated showers or thunderstorms potentially dropping by unannounced. Think of it as nature’s version of a surprise party.
Friday & Saturday: Partly cloudy at times, basically a weather cameo with no dramatic plot twists.

- Friday & Saturday: A gentle rise, enough to remind you that winter in Cyprus is polite and mild, never aggressive.
