Police are now investigating 13 complaints related to the Monastery of Saint Avakoum, including a recent case involving a 14-year-old girl who has accused a monk of sexual abuse.

According to a report on Sigmalive, the teenager reported to police that she frequently visited the monastery with her parents. She claims that the alleged abuse occurred approximately a year ago during one of these visits, when the monk made inappropriate sexual advances towards her.

According to Sigma, the girl gave a recorded statement to authorities on Monday, with specialized professionals present as required by law.

Notably, the monk in question is also involved in another complaint that has recently come to light. This monk previously filed a report three months ago accusing two abbots of labor exploitation at the monastery.
