A footballer playing in the U19 league has alleged that he was assaulted by his team's coach.

According to information from the police, the 18-year-old footballer, who is part of a Nicosia-based team, went to the Lakatamia police station around 8:00 PM on Saturday, January 11, to report that his coach had assaulted him. The young man stated that the incident took place earlier that day, at approximately 4:00 PM.

Following the complaint and on the advice of police officers, the footballer, accompanied by his father, was taken to the General Hospital in the capital for a medical examination. Doctors found abrasions on various parts of his body.

The coach in question visited a police station the next day and filed a counter-complaint. He alleged that he had been assaulted by the same 18-year-old footballer and another individual, also a football player, during the same incident.

Both cases are currently under investigation.
