A relatively hot and dry air mass is affecting areas over Cyprus, with a yellow warning in effect on Tuesday due to maximum temperatures inland expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius.
Tuesday skies will be mostly clear with strong winds expected in the south and southwest later in the day.
An extreme high temperature warning was in effect overnight and will run through Tuesday afternoon at 4pm, with officials pointing to maximums reaching 40 degrees inland and 32 high up in the mountains. Other temperatures will reach 36 in the east and southeast while it will be 34 in all other coastasl regions.
Evening skies will be mostly clear with temperature lows dropping to 26 degrees inland, in the east, and in the south, around 25 in the north and out west, while it will be 19 higher up.
Temperatures will remain roughly the same throughout the week except Friday, when levels are expected to go up slightly mainly in the interior where inland and mountains will be above normal averages.
