University swimmer Kalia Antoniou capped off a demanding week with a standout performance at the World University Games, placing sixth in the 100-meter freestyle final with a time of 54.83 seconds.
The Cypriot national champion, competing against some of the world’s top collegiate swimmers, entered the final as the third-fastest qualifier after clocking a 54.69 in the semifinals. While her final time fell short of her personal best, the result solidified her status among the elite at the international university level.
Antoniou, who trains under coach Stavros Michailidis, has built a reputation for consistent performances on the global stage. Her showing in Berlin adds another highlight to an already impressive resume.
Following a rigorous week of competition, Antoniou will take a short rest day before resuming training on Monday.
Though the podium remained just out of reach, her presence in the final served as a point of pride for supporters and a testament to her hard work and resilience.
There was no disappointment in her camp, only admiration. Once again, Antoniou proved she belongs among the world’s best.
