Cinemas, theatres to reopen Monday

Theatres and cinemas will be permitted to host up to 50 audience members at a time as once they open their doors next Monday as part of the gradual relaxation of measures

The Cabinet on Wednesday agreed to allow theatres and cinemas to reopen their doors next Monday, along with department stores, shopping malls, primary public and private schools as well as high school seniors. 

Theatres and cinemas will be permitted to host up to 50 audience members at a time. 

The health ministry will be launching immediate discussions with involved parties in view of updating the health and safety protocol that will govern the reopening of these spaces.

Members of the public going to the theatre or the cinema can do so as of Monday by sending an SMS to 8998 stating option 9 as the reason for travel.

A daily curfew from 9pm until 5am remains in effect.
