The Deputy Ministry of Culture announced Thursday it will provide €3,000 to each of the 16 communities in the Limassol mountain region affected by last July’s wildfires, totaling €48,000 in support for local cultural events.
The one-time grants are designed to help fire-stricken communities organize cultural programs of their choice throughout 2025. Officials said the initiative also encourages collaboration between communities, allowing them to co-host events and maximize their impact.
“This financial support aims to help communities recover, restore social connections, and attract visitors to the area, as requested by residents themselves,” the Ministry said in a statement.
The Ministry emphasized its commitment to reinforcing cultural life in the region, using arts and events as a tool to foster community resilience and optimism in the wake of the wildfires.
“The goal is to offer residents relief from the aftermath of the fires and create opportunities for cultural and social engagement, so that together we can look to the future with hope,” the statement added.
