A delegation from the House of Representatives of Cyprus, visiting Yerevan during a challenging time for Armenia, expressed support and solidarity to Armenia's leadership. Haris Georgiades, President of the Foreign and European Affairs Committee of the House and head of the Cyprus-Armenia Interparliamentary Committee, conveyed Cyprus's readiness to assist Armenia with humanitarian aid, financial support, and political backing within the EU framework. Discussions primarily focused on the political, humanitarian, and refugee crisis resulting from the loss of the Artsakh region (Nagorno-Karabakh) and potential support from Cyprus through the EU.

Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan thanked the Cypriot MPs for adopting a resolution condemning Azerbaijani aggression and ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh. The Speaker also appreciated President of the Cypriot House of Representatives Annita Demetriou's speech at a European conference, where she raised concerns about ongoing crimes in Nagorno-Karabakh and called for international action.

The meeting addressed humanitarian issues related to displaced people from Nagorno-Karabakh. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan expressed gratitude for Cyprus's supportive resolutions and readiness to assist displaced individuals.

Both sides stressed the need for concrete actions to prevent violence and threats to Armenia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, noting that political statements alone are insufficient.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan welcomed the Cypriot delegation's visit, highlighting the high level of interparliamentary cooperation and political dialogue. He thanked Cyprus for its clear positions, particularly in condemning the blockade of the Lachin corridor. Pashinyan also emphasized the potential for economic cooperation between Cyprus and Armenia.

The Cypriot parliamentary delegation is scheduled to pay respects at the Armenian Genocide Memorial before departing for Cyprus.
